The next generation of football superstars looks well set up.
Bearing the responsibility of succeeding talents such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Luka Modric, Toni Kross, Luis Suarez, and others, these young stars have some very big shoes to fill.
However, based on the performances they’re dishing out already, the potential is certainly off the charts.
As for their identities, the likes of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Pedri, Gavi, and Jamal Musiala among others, have all been touted to become Football’s next batch of Elite players.
And among them is a highly sought-after 19-year-old by the name of Jude Bellingham.
Hailing from Birmingham, the midfielder is already viewed as one of the world’s best, a tag he earned after lighting up the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.
Naturally, many of Europe’s Top clubs have already begun making inroads into acquiring the young midfielder’s talents, with reports suggesting that Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea are among the interested parties.
So when reports of Bellingham eyeing Real Madrid as his destination emerged, the Premier League clubs would’ve likely been caught off-guard.
As per Relevo, the European champions have shown interest in the midfielder since last year, and are currently well-poised to get his signature.
The news left Liverpool fans particularly disappointed, especially as the Reds were cited as frontrunners for Bellingham by multiple sources.
The side have been largely hesitant on reinforcing their midfield, despite the apparent problems. And as per reports, one of the factors behind this is a long-term transfer plan for Bellingham.
If the 19-year-old ventures to Spain, Liverpool will have to look elsewhere, which certainly isn’t ideal.
Fortunately for the Reds, a Bundesliga insider spoke on the matter and dismissed the notion entirely.
The individual in focus is Jan Age Fjortoft, a former footballer, and current pundit. The 55-year-old regularly conducts interviews with Top managers and is even known to be a part of ‘Camp Haaland’, as he holds close ties with the Norwegian striker’s entourage.
While his track record isn’t entirely flawless, Fjortoft is usually reliable on Bundesliga matters.
And when the news popped up of Bellingham prioritizing Madrid, the journo tweeted, ‘Nothing! Nothing decided!!’.
After further inquiry on Liverpool’s chances of securing the midfielder, he said, ‘One of the candidates of course.’
Definite good news for the Liverpool faithful who’d love the sight of Bellingham in Red. Things should become clearer in the coming months, but at the moment, it’s all hanging in the balance.
