Lionel Messi gave a glimpse of why he’s called ‘the GOAT’ with an amazing winner in PSG’s 4-3 win over Lille in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
In what was one of the craziest games of 2023, the French side had to dig deep to get a late win thanks to their iconic forward.
With the game tied at 3-3, some Messi magic happened. In the 95th minute, PSG received a free-kick just outside the box – in classic Messi territory.
The entire Parc des Princes held their breath as Leo lined up to take it. In classic Messi fashion, he struck a near-perfect free-kick that hit the post and went in.
Messi is slowly, but surely, starting to adapt to life at PSG after spending the majority of his career at Barcelona. He is getting used to gelling with his new teammates, some of which include players that were his former rival.
The craziest link-up to have happened at PSG since Messi arrived is now his chemistry with former Barcelona teammate Neymar or France superstar Kylian Mbappe. It’s his unreal bromance with Sergio Ramos!
Upon his arrival at PSG a few years ago, a lot of fans were beginning to wonder how they could co-exist together after years of beefing in Spain. The two had participated in El Clasico games against each other for over a decade, where their only objective was to get one over the other.
Ramos, being the brutal, aggressive defender he is – looked to have plans to injure Messi every time they met. The Spaniard never shied away from clattering Argentina forward with rash sliding challenges and the two almost got into scuffles regularly, as they hated each other.
But all that hatred has vanished at PSG. Both are true professionals who decided to put their past differences aside for the betterment of PSG. Not only have they coexisted at PSG, but appear to have developed a surprisingly strong bond as well.
The two have started to play more games alongside each other this season after Ramos saw his debut campaign at PSG disrupted by injuries. The centre-back seems to be loving playing with Leo and making him as comfortable as possible.
Their celebrations together have been surreal to witness for fans, especially knowing their El Clasico history. The Spanish defender even kissed Leo during celebrations in their Champions League group stage game against Maccabi Haifa, in which the forward scored a brace.
He even did it after Messi’s goal in the 1-1 draw to Benfica as well.

Some fans are just bamboozled over how this bromance even became a thing – considering that Ramos looked bent on breaking Messi in half every time they met in an El Clasico game.
Like this is literally how their first meeting went 😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/xODIAq9pI1

Ramos can be a menace to play against but is a devoted teammate who is ready to put everything on the line for his mates.
In a recent interview, the Spaniard even risked burning bridges with Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming that Messi is ‘the best player football has ever produced’.
What kinda enemies to lovers trope is this?

This is despite having only played with Messi for a few years, in comparison to the nine years with Ronaldo at Real Madrid. The Spanish centre-back definitely appears to be a changed man and their bromance almost makes you believe that Hell can indeed Freeze over.
