Liverpool are experiencing a really eventful campaign in which a lot of things have gone wrong for them.
They’ve struggled to maintain consistency, being at the wrong end of some shocking results and are now trying their best to secure a top-4 finish in the Premier League in the final few months of the season.
Unfortunately for Jurgen Klopp, his side has been plagued with injuries and a lot of players not being able to perform at the necessary levels.
However, one player who has still managed to go strong through this tumultuous season is Mo Salah.
Salah is still at it
The Egyptian winger gave the Liverpool fans a sweet present last summer by signing a new long-term deal that keeps him tied to the club until at least 2025.
However, the 30-year-old has also been forced to undertake a lot of the goal-scoring burdens at the club since the departure of Sadio Mane last year.
Indeed, Salah has often had to act almost like a one-man band in the frontline for his side – having to initiate the attacking moves and then finish them all by himself.
Because of constant injuries to his fellow forwards and Darwin Nunez still adapting to his new environment, the Egyptian has had to do A LOT of work all by himself.
To his credit, Salah has not exactly buckled to these expectations and managed to produce fairly impressive numbers in such a topsy-turvy campaign.
He has scored 19 goals and provided 9 assists in just 35 appearances – boasting an admirable 28-goal contribution.
What did fans notice about Salah after Wolves win?
That includes two goals in the last three appearances for Liverpool – including one in their 2-0 win over Wolves in mid-week.
That Premier League clash wasn’t easy for the Reds, who were winless in their last two games and had experienced a horrific 5-2 loss to Real Madrid in their previous game at Anfield.
Salah & co were able to get the Anfield crowd rocking with a brilliant second-half display and won over the admiration of the fans again.
As he was making his way into the dressing room after full-time, Salah decided to give his t-shirt to one of the supporters in the stands.
As he removed his t-shirt to strip down to his bare body, some eagle-eyed fans were able to notice something very different about his back.
There were round spots all over his back, which indicates that he might be undergoing cupping therapy.
What is Cupping therapy and its benefits?
Cupping therapy, also known as Hijama, is an ancient form of medication. In this form, a therapist puts special glass cups on the skin of a person for a few minutes to create a suction.
Normally, during the two types of cupping therapy (dry and wet), a therapist puts a flammable substance like alcohol, herbs or paper in a cup and set it on fire. Just as the fire goes out, the cup is placed upside down on a person’s skin – causing a slight burning sensation.
As the air in the cup cools down, it creates a vacuum and causes a person’s skin to raise and redden as the blood vessel expands. Normally, a cup is left in place for up to three minutes at a time.
There are a lot of benefits to this technique. Cupping therapy is known to help with pain, inflammation, and blood flow and also acts as a type of deep-tissue massage.
This therapy dates back to ancient Egyptian culture and it also doesn’t have any major side effects, which is why Salah appears to have used it to keep himself in prime physical condition.
The Egyptian winger isn’t the first major footballer to use this technique either.
Karim Benzema has also shown himself undergoing this therapy to fix some of his physical issues – while some fans believed that Cristiano Ronaldo also went through it since joining Al Nassr.
It seems like Mo is focused on keeping himself at absolute 100% fitness levels and using cupping therapy to get rid of any nagging issues.
Salah will need to be at his very best and start firing on all cylinders on a consistent basis to help the Reds end the season by securing Champions League qualification for next season.
