Leeds United returned to the Premier League in 2020 after a 16-year absence. But the new spell in England’s top tier didn’t last long at Elland Road – three seasons to be precise – and the Whites have once again dropped to the Championship.
Club chairman Andrea Radrizzani insisted “changed is needed” at the club following their relegation to the Championship. Leeds have done exactly that in more than one way.
Radrizzani has cut ties with the club, handing over 100% control to the 49ers. Director of Football Victor Orta has left. Daniel Farke is expected to be installed as the new manager. And even their kit is set to welcome a new sponsor: BOXT.
The ‘award-winning’ British smart home systems installer has expanded its partnership with Leeds and will become their principal partner from the start of the 2023/24 season. They are replacing the bookmaker SBOTOP.
While the logo of a company that offers Uber-style service for fitting boilers isn’t the most glamorous name to flaunt on a kit, more fans were happy to see the back of a gaming company. Another thing that some fans appear to appreciate is the fact the technology company is headquartered in Leeds. Now this is something that social media fans don’t care much about, but the idea of ‘local’ certainly resonates with West Yorkshire-based supporters.
To make things rosier, BOXT is offering Leeds fans an exclusive £50 discount on all boiler and air conditioning purchases.
The BOXT branding will feature front and centre on the shirt across the club’s men’s and women’s first team kits, as well as on academy and replica shirts.
Leeds are yet to officially release the new kits, but with the new campaign drawing closer, leaks are already doing the rounds on social media, and a formal announcement is also expected soon.
The leaked kit includes trademark Adidas three stripes: blue and yellow across the shoulders. On the fabric, one can notice a peacock feather pattern, which is a pretty similar design to Manchester United’s 2023/24 home kit that has a red rose instead. On the back of the shirt’s neck, an old-school Leeds peacock is also added.
The peacock pattern, Adidas’ iconic stripes, and BOXT’s simple text branding that matches the colour of the two blue stripes without any other corporate logo make the kit appear a thing of beauty. As far as away kits are concerned, even leaked pictures aren’t available at the moment, as such colour scheme and design remain unknown.
No formal date has been announced for the kit launch, but going by the previous trend, it’s safe to assume fans of the Yorkshire outfit would get to see their players wear the kit in their first pre-season game, which is incidentally against their fierce rivals, Manchester United. The Red Devils will also wear their new rose kit against Leeds on the 12th of July in Oslo, Norway. The rose pattern vs. peacock pattern it is then!
