The former Wolves frontman joins the Canaries for a fee of £5.5 million the same as his price in the much popular Fantasy Premier League game. He is incidentally not the first player with this distinction.
The 32 years old joined Wolves from Benfica enjoying a successful start to life in the Premier League. Many FPL managers will remember the Wolves asset as a much-valued mid-priced striker FPL asset, particularly during the days of former Spurs boss Nuno managing Wolves. Jimenez managed 40 goals in 135 league appearances for his former side.
His career at club level has been somewhat derailed following a horrific head injury after being involved in a collision with former Gunners defender David Luiz at the Emirates which kept him out for almost a year.
Jimenez will likely be replacing another popular mid-priced fantasy striker asset Mitrovic who is likely Saudi bound.
The Mexican will be hoping for a kick-start of goals in his new side and if he manages so, a 5.5 million £ forward scoring a few will come in greatly handy to FPL managers who are already looking for striker assets in that price bracket to fit their budget.
Before Jimenez joined the list of players being transferred on the same fee as their price as an FPL asset, there was Arsenal’s much-beloved talisman Gabriel Martinelli.
The Brazilian joined the London side for a sum totaling £6 million at the time joining the same as his price in the FPL that season.
Martinelli has certainly long left behind that value he had begun with something Jimenez will be hoping he will be able to replicate himself.
The people working behind the scenes of the Fantasy Premier League often get some sticks for not getting the value right on different sets of FPL assets. Well, these were two occasions when they couldn’t have been more accurate. Who are some of the other players falling under the same category?
