The Reds have been looking to overcome the disappointment of last season as Jurgen Klopp looks to get back in the fight for the biggest prizes. Missing out on the Champions League has caused the team to overhaul its aging midfield with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia looking like the next piece in the jigsaw after couple of early window arrivals.
Southampton want upwards of £50m for Romeo Lavia according to Sky Sports News. Chelsea are also keeping a close watch on the 19-year-old’s situation who has four years left on his Southampton contract after joining from Man City last summer. The Belgium international is expected to leave after the Saints were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.
Jurgen Klopp has already bolstered his midfield ranks this summer with acquisition of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton in a £35m deal and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig for £60m.The new additions have filled the void left by departures of midfielders James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.
Meanwhile, captain Jordan Henderson and Brazil international Fabinho are close to the exit door with both eyeing a foray into the Saudi Pro League. Jordan Henderson is close to be announced as an Al-Ettifaq player. With contracts being signed it is believed to be a done deal. He has even been captured shooting his goodbye video on the Anfield turf.
However, according to David Ornstein, Fabinho’s rumored move from Liverpool to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad has hit a snag. Fabinho is expected to be back in Liverpool training and join his teammates at the AXA Training Ground.

According to the Athletic, Liverpool are also looking for defensive reinforcements and are looking someone aged 23 or under with high potential. However, It’s unlikely they’re going to splash big cash if they can’t find a player with the right profile. They would revisit it next summer if there is no value in the market. One such player that Liverpool are reportedly monitoring is Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu. This is according to the youngster’s agent Kingsley Ogbodo who reportedly told Sport Italia that the Reds are will make a move for his client this summer. However, he urged the 18-year-old to avoid moving to Anfield and hone his skills at his current club for now.
According to Football Transfers, Liverpool have also made an approach for the 22-year-old Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade. He may be available for paltry amount of €25million but the Brazilian club may not prepared to sell until the end of the Brazilian winter.
Elsewhere, french outlet Foot Mercato has reported that Liverpool’s opening bid for Japanese forward Nakamura has been rejected by Austrian side LASK. The Merseyside club are rumored to have submitted a €7m (£6m) bid for the player, who scored 17 goals in 36 games last season.
