Eduardo Camavinga has completed nearly two years at Real Madrid and it seems that he’s struck up quite the friendship with Antonio Rudiger, with the two seen sharing a hilarious moment involving a ‘gallop run’ in training.
The German defender is poised to move into his second season at the Santiago Bernabeu since joining them as a free agent last year. Rudiger is well aware that he needs to perform at a very high level and constantly out-work his fellow teammates to be a regular in the Real Madrid XI, with David Alaba and Eder Militao both providing stiff competition.
With pre-season well underway at the club, players are focused on getting themselves to reach peak fitness levels before the La Liga season starts in August. Eduardo Camavinga is also well aware that he doesn’t have a free pass under Carlo Ancelotti and will not be getting regular starts based on merit.
The Antonio Rudiger-Eduardo Camavinga bromance in full effect at Real Madrid
Competition in midfield has increased since Jude Bellingham’s arrival and new left-back Fran Garcia appears intent on making that role his own. Both Rudiger and Camavinga have points to prove in the 2023/24 season and they appear to have formed a special bond in their one year together at the club.
At a recent open training session, the two were seen sticking quite close to each other as the players did their warm-up exercises. The German centre-back is 10 years elder than the Frenchman, which means he probably acts as a big brother cum mentor to him in the squad.
Rudiger is known for being a very friendly guy and a brilliant teammate to have. He used to be the joker in the Chelsea dressing room and had a reputation for cracking up his teammates with his funny personality. One of his gestures that never fails to make anyone laugh is his ‘gallop run’ that he often does in games or in training.
The German defender has a very unique running style, in which he gallops like a horse when forced to run at a higher pace to catch up to opponents to clear the ball. He almost gallops like a horse, pushing both his legs to nearly reach the length of his belly button in an attempt to gain higher speed.
It actually seems to work for him too, despite looking very awkward. Indeed, Rudiger is known as one of the quickest centre-back in Europe and is able to match up to very fast forwards. It appears that Camavinga is also trying to perfect this ‘gallop’ run as it was shown during a recent training session.
Fans love how Camavinga replicated Rudgier’s ‘gallop run’
In the footage of the session, Rudiger and Camavinga are doing their running drills together. The 20-year-old sees his senior do the galloping run during one running rep and learns it perfectly. Camavinga then does the gallop run himself in the next running rep, much to the delight of Aurelien Tchouameni beside him.
Rudiger doesn’t seem to mind it at all and actually appears to be quite proud of the Frenchman, who can be seen hilariously laughing at his own attempt at this weird type of running style. Real Madrid fans are in love with this footage, as it shows how closely bonded their current players are to each other and how the ‘vibes’ around the dressing room are very high.
While the duo seem to be having some silly fun in pre-season, they will look to use their understanding and chemistry on the pitch to help Real Madrid dominate games and win major trophies in the 2023/24 campaign.
