Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane are the focus point of potentially two of the biggest transfers of the 2023 summer window, but are currently caught up in very different situations. While the Frenchman continues to be linked to a move to Real Madrid, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are plotting on a move for Kane.
There is actually a strong chance that both play for different teams after the transfer window else, but there is also possibility of them staying at their respective clubs.
A major similarity in their situations is that both Mbappe and Kane are set to have their contracts expire next year, which could allow them to leave their clubs for free if unable to be sold this summer.
Mbappe, however, is caught up in a much more complicated situation right now. He has been involved in a bit of a cold war with the PSG management ever since he sent a letter to their management in June, clearly stating that he will not extend his deal with the club beyond 2024.
PSG make another move to sideline Mbappe from squad
Since then, he has been sidelined by the Parisians – who try to find a way to transfer him and cut down on their losses.
The issue, however, is that Mbappe doesn’t want to play their game and despite receiving a rumoured €700m one-year contract from Saudi Arabia side Al Hilal, he laughed off the possibility of such a move.
Mbappe seems to be determined to join Real Madrid only and ideally as a free agent next year, as that could help him bag a lucrative signing-on bonus and receive every single penny from his PSG contract too.
As the French giants keep pushing him to a corner, they’ve now removed him from the homepage of their official website. This comes after Mbappe was being degraded to train with the ‘outcast’ group at PSG consisting of players who the club want to offload immediately.
How Harry Kane’s situation differs from Mbappe
The Frenchman is trying to be as professional as possible, even though the club keeps trying to erase his memories with them. On the other hand, Harry Kane is showing impressive professionalism at Spurs even though he might be bound to move to Germany soon.
Bayern are reportedly confident of getting a deal done to sign the England captain and finally find their long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski.
Kane, however, is allowing everything to play out after seeing Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy deny him high-profile transfers in recent years and knowing that he can leave the club as a free agent next year anyways if he wants.
Amid all this, Kane is preparing to start the Premier League season with Ange Postecoglou’s side. He was recently pictured being involved in his side’s media-day duties for the television broadcasters.
Kane was pictured in a full Spurs kits doing poses, celebrations and other gestures that could be used by the broadcasters for pre-match or post-match graphs.
The Englishman doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to leave North London at all and is first letting the two clubs find an agreement on the fee before preparing to move to Munich.
Mbappe, on the other hand, sees himself shut out by PSG even though he isn’t exactly actively pushing for a summer transfer nor has he put in a transfer request.
Kane and Mbappe could be involved in two of the most prolific transfers of the summer window, but for now, both seem to be prepared for the prospect of enjoying the 2023/24 campaign with their current side – even though not both have the best relations with their clubs.
