Lionel Messi has been loving life in Miami. The Argentine messiah was part of a major transfer saga in the summer following his exit from French Champions, PSG.
A hero’s return for Messi back in Barcelona looked to be imminent, at least for the fanatics that is but persuasion from David Beckham and involvement of massive companies such as Apple and Adidas, saw the world champion take his talents to South Beach.
It’s now clear why Messi chose Miami, a city where a large percentage of population speaks Spanish and a city that is proving to be a great living spot for his family. This was one of his major concerns and reason for leaving PSG as his family struggled to adjust to the culture of the city.
Messi’s decision and partnership with Apple, who broadcast the entirety of MLS can prove to be a gold mine for football fans and Messi FC specifically as they are set to release a 6-part Documentary that highlights Messi’s arrival in the city of Miami along with behind-the-scenes footage of his debut in the Leagues Cup against Cruz Azul wherein stars such as the likes of Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams and Lebron James were in awe of “La Pulga”.
A press release from Apple reads – “From selling out record crowds across America at breakneck speed, to his incredible last-minute game-winning goal in his very first match, to moments with Messi and his Inter Miami CF teammates, the series chronicles Messi’s immersion in America, the remarkable journey and transformation of Inter Miami CF, and most significantly, the impact he is currently having on soccer in North America as “Messi Mania” crisscrosses the continent.”
The documentary series will be produced by Emmy Award winner Tim Pastore (‘Free Solo’, ‘Jane’), Emmy and Tony Award winners Patrick Milling Smith and Brian Carmody, and Emmy Award winner Matt Renner (‘Limitless with Chris Hemsworth’).
This marks to be the second documentary about Messi to be featured on Apple TV as they are already producing a 4-episode series on Argentina’s journey to World Cup glory in Qatar 2022. The Miami documentary is set to be produced by Smuggler Entertainment.
Both titles are unannounced as of yet but rest assured, will delve into the details of transfer saga, Beckham’s persuasion and Messi family’s overall adjustment to the United States.
Since the documentary also covers Messi’s Leagues Cup debut, it is most likely that Apple will be releasing it a lot later as Messi’s Inter Miami defeated Philadelphia Union in the Semi-finals just today and possibly winning the final against Nashville on the 19th of August at the Geodis Park would prove to be a cinematic ending to the series just like the World Cup one.
