Wataru Endo has had an underwhelming start to his career at Liverpool and is yet to really establish his position at Anfield. He is hardly starting matches and seeing Alexis Mac Allister positioned in that no.6 role instead of him.
However, Endo seems to be a sure shot to start matches in the cup competitions. He did just the same at Anfield in the clash against Toulouse and even scored his first Liverpool goal. The Japanese midfielder still has to perform better in training and matches to convince Jurgen Klopp to give him more game-time.
With that being said, it appears that the Liverpool fans are fully sold on him. The Reds’ faithful seem to be loving their new no.6 and are giving him all the support he needs to get settled at the club.
Not just that, but some of the overzealous Reds’ supporters even seem to have created a new chant for him. Endo might not be getting that much game-time, but some creative fans are already celebrating his presence. While it hasn’t been heard at Anfield, this new Endo chant is making rounds on social media.
The lyrics for the Wataru Endo chant goes something like this:
“Endo’s better than Romeo
Endo’s better than Caicedo
Endo’s better than anyone
We know
Oh Wataru Endo! He’s our
Number three he came from
The bundesliga on th cheap
Now we’ve got a Japanese
guy, Dom Szoboszlai and
Alexis in the team
Endo joined this club
Cause Klopp decided Endo’s
What we need now
We’ve got a Japaanese guy
Dom Szoboszlai and Alexis in
The team he’s our number
three he came from the
Bundesliga on the cheap
now we’ve got a Japanese guy
Dom Szoboszlai and Alexis in
the team Endo joined this club
Cause Klopp decided Endo’s
What we need now
we’ve got a Japanese guy
Dom Szoboszlai and Alexis in
the team.”
It appears that this song is inspired by the song ‘No Scrubs’ by American girl group ‘TLC’, a song that has over 390 million views on YouTube. While the lyrics of this chant might seem weird just by reading it, the tune and tone of the song makes it weirdly irresistible.
The Liverpool seem to be in love with this sweet little chant and can’t get enough of how much of a banger it is. One fan even hinted at how the chant sounds even better at 1.5x speed and it absolutely does. Despite having an average AI voice-over, the chant’s lyrics and music make it hilariously enjoyable.
This is not even the first or only Wataru Endo chant created by Liverpool fans. Soon after his arrival from Stuttgart, some Liverpool fans were frustrated to see him benched in every game. One fan decided to create a chant that is hugely inspired by Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’ to urge Klopp to give him more game-time.
Now with Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister all in impressive form, fans have realized why Endo isn’t getting that much game-time. However, the Japanese midfielder is a fighter who is going to work to earn a solid spot in the team and get Anfield to sing his irresistible chant.
