January transfer window is now open, and teams are looking to bolster their squads for the rest of the season. Big name clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal are looking to get a marksman to end their woeful runs.
What seems to be the buzz among these teams is the news that Ivan Toney is available and up for grabs.
The 1996-born attacking forward is known for his prolific goal-scoring, and without him even his team Brentford seems to be suffering down in the depths of Premier League table at 16th place.
Toney is going to be back in action from the 17th of January. He had participated in gambling activities all through 2017 till 2021, even during his own club’s games.
These activities are forbidden by the FA, and hence he was sentenced to an eight-month suspension from professional football.
Thinking about what he had earned or lost during the gambling addiction era of his, makes you wonder what the striker’s total net worth is like now.
As is the case with the majority of footballers, they come from a humble background, and family net worth is not something they carry over. The same is the case with Ivan Benjamin Elijah Toney. Born in Northampton, a small town in England’s East Midlands, Toney just had his single mother to support him.
So, most of his earnings and worth are all thanks to his professional career as a footballer. His career began in his hometown. He started with the League 2 team and soon enough started showing his predatory instincts.
Racking up goals, he was noticed by scouts at Newcastle United, and he was soon a Magpie. Unfortunately for him, this was before the Saudi takeover; hence, not the career or salary he had hoped for.
He earned a measly £5000 a week. He was just loaned out to clubs like Barnsley, Wigan, etc., and didn’t get a chance to settle at Newcastle.
It was Peterborough United, in 2018, that provided him his next permanent home for €370k. He reciprocated with 26 goals in 39 appearances for them.
This is where his career kicked off. For an amount around €5.60 million, he arrived at his present destination at Brentford. He impressed his new club by earning a promotion for them with his goals.
Not only that, he has been stacking goals after goal for them, and this earned him a national team appearance too. He is supposedly earning £20k weekly as the club is still supporting him during his suspension.
Playing for the national team is a big career move, and Toney has made it to the England XI. Sadly for him though, he couldn’t make it to Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.
As we all know, the Premier League pays well. Toney is currently earning over a million pounds a year from his club salary alone. Add in the sponsorships, endorsements, and bonuses, and his stocks are only going up. Just during his Brentford stint, he has made about £4.3 million from just his salary.
This brings up his total net worth to be around £5 million (6.5 million USD).
The gambling figures are not known, and hence the figure might have changed somewhat. If the big boys of the Premier League come for the English striker, he is bound to have a multifold increase in that total for sure.
