Rio Ferdinand’s Blueprint on Keeping Mason Greenwood at Man United Sparks Outrage

Rio Ferdinand was put in a tough spot when the former Manchester United defender was asked whether the club should keep Mason Greenwood.

Ferdinand handled the situation diplomatically by not giving a clear answer to a Daily Mail reporter who initiated the “Keep or Sell” game.

According to Ferdinand, he needs to have a chat with Greenwood to know what his mindset is, and what the situation around the club is.

Rio also mentioned the need to talk to the “right supporters group” to get a clear picture of their current views on the controversial forward before a decision is made by the club.

The answer did not sit well with many fans and they took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to voice their opinions:

The 22-year-old is currently linked with a move away from Manchester United permanently, with Juventus showing strong interest.

Following the public backlash over his abuse of his girlfriend, Harriet Robson in 2022, Greenwood was suspended by the club indefinitely and the Englishman only returned to the field after the case was dropped.

Greenwood spent the whole of last season with Spanish outfit Getafe and scored 8 goals and 6 assists in 33 La Liga games.
