Why Trent Alexander-Arnold Feels Unwelcome at the Oasis Reunion Tour

Why Trent Alexander-Arnold Feels Unwelcome at the Oasis Reunion Tour

Trent Alexander-Arnold finally got his first assist in the Arne Slot era in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over AC Milan in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League opener.

The Englishman was at his creative best, creating four goal-scoring chances and causing chaos with his inviting crosses into the middle — one of which was converted by Ibrahima Konate for his goal.

But after the game, Alexander-Arnold was asked about some of his off-the-pitch hobbies by the CBS Sports panel. Things lead to him being asked about if he aspires to attend any show in the Oasis reunion tour in 2025, which ended up sparking an intriguing answer.

What Did Alexander-Arnold Say About Oasis Reunion Tour?

Alexander-Arnold was actually asked by the CBS Sports panel about if he’s excited about the Oasis concerts next summer and if he’s been able to get a ticket to one of their shows yet, to which he replied: “No. I like Oasis, I like the songs, but I don’t know whether I am welcome at their concert!”

This response from the English wing-back surprised the pundits in the studio, but he shared some cheeky banter with ex-Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher. Trent told Jamie that ‘you won’t be welcome either’ to which Carragher hinted that he’s already had a ticket reserved for one of the concerts.

Hearing this, Alexander-Arnold stated that ‘I might sneak it with Jamie’ and Carragher was glad for that, saying ‘you can be part of my plus-eight’ – hinting he’s got a ticket that allows eight more people to enter with him.

What Triggered The Beef Between Trent And Oasis Members

But the reason why Trent believes that he’s not really likened by the Gallagher brothers of Oasis is because of some back-and-forth that happened with them earlier this summer.

Towards the end of the 2023/24 season, Alexander-Arnold triggered Manchester City fans by claiming that the trophies won by Liverpool in their history ‘mean more’ than what the Cityzens have in the last decade.

He had told FourFourTwo magazine: “We’re up against a machine that’s built to win. That’s the simplest way to describe City and their organisation. Looking back on this era, although they’ve won more titles than us and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the situations at both clubs, financially. How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we’ve done it, probably means more to our fans.”

This ended up being extremely triggering for Noel Gallagher, who is a massive Manchester City fan and even involved in designing one of their recent kits.

Gallagher was furious at Trent for trying to insinuate that the Cityzens’ trophies don’t have the same meaning as Liverpool’s and clapped back at him by claiming: “If he [Alexander-Arnold] wasn’t such a simpleton then I’d say yeah… first of all he says ‘in this era City have probably won more trophies than us’ and it’s like hang on, we have won more trophies than you, in fact we’ve won twice as many than you.

“For someone to say that a trophy means more to one set of fans, than another set of fans, is the talk of a simpleton. I tell you this, West Ham winning [the Europa Conference League] will have meant as much as that Champions League to us. For him to come out with that, even by footballer’s standards he’s a bit dim, isn’t he? I don’t think he was being clever and all those things saying he’s playing mind games – really? What is he, one of the X-Men or something?”

Trent opted against a war of words with the Oasis star after this exchange, but it seems he’s taken it as a way of decrypting that the band members probably don’t like him. But not just Noel, but his brother Liam Gallagher also had a choice set of words for Alexander-Arnold after his comments.

After Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City at Anfield last season, Liam tweeted: “You soft a***s can have that point as I know it means more to youse than us MCFC LG x.” Liam even called the Reds as ‘Luckypool’ for getting the draw and has often taken digs at Liverpool for challenging the Cityzens in recent years, even branding Jurgen Klopp’s departure as ‘good riddance’.

Even though the Oasis members shared heated moments with Trent in the past, they’re unlikely to ban him from attending their concerts. Alexander-Arnold, however, doesn’t seem that keen on watching the Manchester City fans’ reunion and will probably be better off spending the next summer with his loved ones on vacation.
