Look: Anthony Gordon Turns Heads in UK’s First Ever EV Hummer

Anthony Gordon has had a solid start to the Premier League season with Newcastle, bagging one goal to show for his performances. The 23-year-old winger has been instrumental for the Magpies, most recently starting in their 2-1 comeback victory against Wolves.

His good form was recognized by England interim manager Lee Carsley, and the winger/midfielder earned a call up to the national team to play in England’s opening fixtures of their UEFA Nations League campaign.

As he continues to impress on the pitch, his lifestyle off the field is grabbing attention as well, especially after he was spotted driving the UK’s first-ever GMC Hummer EV.

Gordon’s rise since moving from Everton to Newcastle last summer has been remarkable. The £45 million transfer saw him secure a significant pay upgrade, and with that kind of money, it’s no surprise that the winger has indulged in some new luxuries.

A move like this often comes with the perks of an upgraded lifestyle—think new house, new car, and, in Gordon’s case, a serious upgrade to his collection of “whips.”

Footballers and their high-end cars have become somewhat of a cultural staple, with players often splashing their salaries on the most exclusive and powerful machines on the market.

Gordon appears to be following suit, but he’s taken it up a notch with his recent purchase of a rare, reported to be first in the UK, US-imported GMC Hummer EV Pickup Truck.

The winger was seen leaving Newcastle’s Darsley Park training ground in this massive new car and social media quickly caught on.

This isn’t Gordon’s first flashy car; during his time at Everton, he was spotted driving a black Lamborghini Urus and a Mercedes G-Wagon.

Gordon’s most recent purchase shows us a trend in the cars he likes to buy and drive.

It seems that with this latest purchase, the Newcastle star has a liking for larger, more powerful vehicles. Standing at a towering 2 meters tall and 2.2 meters wide, the Hummer EV is a monster on the road, boasting 1000 horsepower and the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds—figures that rival Gordon’s own speed and agility on the pitch.

What the car does move away from is Gordon’s usual colour preference, the winger has usually driven around in black cars but this one has more of an army look to it, a colour that looks to be cream.

Beyond its real-world presence, the GMC Hummer EV might look familiar to gaming enthusiasts. The fully electric truck was featured as a drivable vehicle in the popular video game Call of Duty, where its off-road capabilities were put to the test, at least virtually.

Fans had plenty to say about Gordon’s bold choice of vehicle. One X user joked, “He’s never squeezing that into a parking space at Aldi,” while another humorously remarked, “What an awful motor, it looks like a Lego brick.”

While users did mock the car, fans also raised questions about the practicality of the beast of a vehicle, and will it really do the job on the tiny narrow UK roads.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup is no ordinary vehicle. Priced between £185k and £190k, it’s a five-ton truck with serious off-road capabilities and cutting-edge features, including a tri-motor setup for blistering speed. In a world where most footballers are seen cruising in sleek sports cars, Gordon’s choice stands out—not just for its size, but for its uniqueness.

This new purchase is flashy, and also gives us insights into how Gordon might pick and choose his cars, and what his likes and dislikes are. The UK’s first-ever GMC Hummer EV Pickup is certainly a head-turner, though not all fans are on board with his choice.
