Who is Sports Presenter Jaydee Dyer and is He Related to Raheem Sterling?

Jaydee Dyer has developed himself into one of the most beloved hosts for the English football fans by his charming presenting skills for Sky Sports and TNT Sports.

He worked for the former media broadcasters for 5+years, often travelling to different grounds for their ‘Soccer Saturday’ program and impressing viewers with his passion for the game.

Some even dubbed Dyer as an ideal replacement for the memorable Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara thanks to his bubbling personality and conversational skills. The 31-year-old host, however, was released from his job by Sky after the end of the 2023-24 season.

Soon after that, he agreed a deal to join their rivals TNT Sport and has been working as a host for their Premier League, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League coverage.

Dyer has garnered a lot of vital experience in his role in the media industry. He’s interviewed personalities like Thierry Henry, Steven Gerrard and also NBA icon LeBron James as he worked for Sky Sports’ NBA-coverage division too. His rising popularity is well reflected on his social media accounts, as Dyer has over 27,000 followers on Instagram and over 15,800 on X (Twitter).

He joined Sky Sports’ team as a 25-year-old in 2018 , becoming the second-youngest sports reporter ever appointed, and has since soared in his role as a broadcaster or show host.

Dyer has earned a lot of praise on social media from fans for his fresh takes on reporting matches or even the way in which he conducts interviews, making sure the person he’s interviewing are totally relaxed and comfortable.

The interesting thing about Dyer is that his appearance comes off as quite similar to that of Arsenal winger Raheem Sterling. The TNT Sports host appears to have strikingly similar facial features to Sterling, sparking questions on if they are actually related. The reality, however, is that they are in no way brothers or related in any way – with Dyer just having similar features as the England international.

In fact, Jaydee Dyer’s name has itself sparked some curiosity of where he comes from and a potential footballing background or family. Despite the potential speculation, Jaydee does not have any brother who has made it as a top-level footballer. He is not related to the likes of Kieron Dyer (former Newcastle United midielder) or even former Swansea City winger Nathan Dyer.

Did Jaydee Dier Ever Play Professional Football?

Jaydee (that is actually his real name and not a stage name) had a different upbringing and focused more on his studying that breaking out to becoming a footballer. He grew up in London and did his GCSE’s at St. John’s Senior School in Enfield (Nothern London),  and then did his A-Levels at Dame Alice Owen’s School in Hertfordshire too.

Dyer did two Bachelor of Arts degrees, the first one (in Broadcast Journalist) from the Northern Arizona University and then one at Coventry University too. He did his MA (Masters) at Cardiff University too. While Jaydee never really pursued to become a professional footballer, he was a proactive athlete while pursuing his educational degrees too.

He was captain of the Football teams at both his schools and also played for the Northern Arizona University and Coventry University football teams. He was even a head coach of the Women’s Soccer Club at Northern Arizona University, keeping himself fit and agile whilst pursuing his studying.

Dyer was fortunate to bag the Sky Sports job after doing his Masters at the Cardiff University and his ambitious nature has seen him soar up the scene in the English football broadcast journalism scene. It also appears that he is a bit overly ambitious to excel in his working career, and he appears to be currently single without a wife or partner.

The 31-year-old is also admirably involved in charity. He opened his own charitable foundation (Jaydee Dyer foundation) in 2017. It’s a charity that helps in rebuilding schools, providing key supplies and giving academic scholarships to children from underprivileged backgrounds. The foundation mostly aims to improve the educational situation in African countries.

He’s also part of the Antigan and Barbardian Association Choir, that helps them raise money for the development of Antigua and Barbuda. Dyer keeps excelling in the world of football reporting, impressing fans with his skills in front of the camera or interviewing techniques.

With TNT Sport aiming to oust Sky Sports in the broadcasting battle in the UK, it’s wonderful personalities like Jaydee Dyer that can help them earn the extra viewers to decide the ratings battle.
