Hansi Flick’s side thrashed Vincent Kompany and his men 4-1 as the final whistle blew at Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium.

With a hat-trick from Brazilian Raphina and former Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski getting on the scoresheet against his old club, Barcelona eased past their most difficult hurdle in recent history.

In the 60th minute of this game, head coach Vincent Kompany decided to bring on four players from the bench: Kingsley Coman, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane, and Leon Goretzka.

Ideally, the Belgian must have just wanted to freshen up legs and try to get back in the game, as the Spanish club was absolutely killing Bayern in the game.

But fans across social media were quick to mock this particular sub.

Fans made fun of the fact that the set group of Bayern players, although who were very good back in the day, were washed as of date. And Kompany’s attempt to bring them on and line them up as some form of ‘Avengers’ squad was a failed attempt at redeeming himself.

Some even pointed to the fact that maybe their Belgian manager was in the notion that he is in the year ‘2020’ and Bayern are absolutely going to smoke Barcelona with 8 goals, where, if we remember correctly, Coman, Goretzka, and Gang played a crucial role in winning that game.

But that was a different Barcelona, and this new age Barcelona has different levels of cojones.

Kompany was naive enough to trust the same group of Bayern players who defeated Barca 4 years ago to defeat them now.

Apart from their English star forward, let’s be honest, this Bayern side is also a lost cause and not at all representative of that great Bayern side in 2020.

Culers, on the other hand, must thank their new German hero, who’s finally coached them through one of their biggest mental blocks of modern times—like a therapy session, but with goals!

After years of reliving that infamous 8-2 nightmare, Barça fans can finally rest easy, knowing they’ve broken the Bayern curse.

It only took a 4-1 win, a bit of German precision, and a lot of Spanish flair to exorcise those Bavarian ghosts. Now, it’s safe to say: Bayern’s grip on Barça? Finito.
