Kobbie Mainoo Opens Up About Life with His Moody Dog Kodak

Kobbie Mainoo has been THE breakout talent of English football and for Manchester United in 2024. He inserted himself as a regular in the Red Devils’ side, helping them win the 2023/24 FA Cup title with a sensational goal in the  final against Manchester City.

He also starred for England in the Euro 2024, helping them reach the final. Mainoo is close to becoming a household name among English football fans and his growth in popularity has sene him star for major brands and products. He recently even starred in a GQ UK interview alongside Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

Despite seeing his reputation soar, Mainoo still remains a jubilant kid who likes his private life under the wraps. He did, however, reveal some of his personal beloved things to British GQ. In the ’10 Essentials’ video, Mainoo revealed that he actually owns a pet dog named ‘Kodak’ that not many fans even knew about.

It turns out that Mainoo is a massive dog lover and owns an Alsatian (German Shephard) to keep him company at home. The 19-year-old midfielder is currently not rumored to be dating anybody and likes to mostly stay to his own at home when not having to attend training or play in matches.

Mainoo revealed to GQ that Kodak is a three-year-old German shepherd and one he adopted during the Covid-19 outbreak. He stated: “Every time I go home, I see him and he’s definitely a happy face to come home to.”

It also turns out that the Manchester United midfielder named his dog after the acclaimed American rapper Kodak Black. For those unknown, Kodak Black is a multi-time double-platinum certificated rapper who has released five studio albums, with multiple ones reaching top of the Billboard Top Albums chart.

Mainoo has also revealed that Kodak can be a bit of a moody dog who makes his annoyance show if the Englishman has been gone from his house for a long time. The midfielder revealed a hilarious incident from earlier this year, stating: “If I’m gone for too long and I come back, he can be in a bit of a mood. When I went to the Euros and came back, he ignored me for a few days. Usually he’s excited to see me. He likes to be chased, so he’ll pick up a toy and just run of and he’d want you to chase him.”

Kodak also has a case of ‘selective hearing’, which is the ability to focus on a specific sound or conversation while ignoring other noises. Mainoo seems to be quite affectionate about animals as a whole. Earlier in 2024, during Manchester United’s winter trip to Dubai in January, he had posted a picture on his Instagram where he’s chilling out a pet cheetah sitting right next to him. He actually even has a cheetah tattoo on the lower part of his left leg.

But Mainoo particularly has a special love for dogs and his pet Kodak in particular. His adorable interaction with Kodak on GQ’s ‘Essentials’ video shows that he clearly shares a strong bond with the German Shepherd. He’s also one of the rare celebrities to have ever brought their pets to one of these videos.

The Englishman has seemingly gained even more fans after seeing how beloved his bond with Kodak is. Mainoo recently moved out of his parents’ house to live on his own in a spacious house on the outskirts of Manchester, where he has all the ‘teenage necessaries’ in a TV, PS5 and comfy sofa.

It’s safe to assume that he took his dog Kodak to live with him as well, ensuring that loneliness doesn’t plague him and he has someone to interact with at home when returning from the strenuous football activity.
