Is Lewis Hall a Must Hold Now in Fantasy Premier League?

FPL, FPL Defenders

The way his stock is rising, Lewis is en route to become the most popular Hall since Annie Hall. We already have a new Lewis Hall chant courtesy of the Newcastle United faithful.

This season, the attacking fullback has cemented himself as a permanent feature in Eddie Howe’s Newcastle lineup. With 17 starts to his name in just 20 games, he is no longer a rookie.

If we look closely at his season stats, you might go crazy, as he has already accomplished four assists alongside seven clean sheets.

Let’s dissect his FPL persona and try to analyse if he has now emerged as a must-own asset in Fantasy Premier League.

The Best Performing Defender at the Moment?

Lewis Hall has scalped a jaw-dropping 42pts in the last five matches.

The offensive left-back from the English soil ran riot against Leicester at St. James’ Park while producing a pair of assists.

Serious Attacking Threat

Going into GW20, Lewis Hall has recorded an xGI (expected goal involvements) of 0.20 per 90’ and xA (expected assists) of 0.18 per 90’.

He can set the left-flank on fire and has managed to pull another assist off in the game at Old Trafford in GW19.

We Will Not Let In Easily

The Newcastle United defense looks pretty solid now. It seems that Eddie Howe, who was under fire even a month back, has finally succeeded in fixing the loopholes.

Hall and Co. have consistently secured clean sheets in the last four fixtures. Therefore, points are likely to pour in from several channels.

Part of the Template?

Hall is already enjoying the faith of 15% of the FPL managers. And it’s a matter of time before the Newcastle side back finds himself part of almost every template.

If someone is going for a Newcastle defense asset, there’s no one better than Lewis Hall.

Kind Run of Fixtures

The former Chelsea youth academy graduate appears blessed with a nice run of games throughout the next few gameweeks.

After a tricky encounter with Tottenham away, the Magpies would be facing Wolves (H), Bournemouth (H), Southampton (A) and Fulham (H) in their next four outings.

Best Budget Option?

Hall is still priced at just £4.8m, which possibly makes him even more viable for a transfer-in before gameweek20.

Hence, the odds are against keeping Lewis Hall on the sidelines. He is a must-hold for now. But if he is not on your team list yet, then there is no need to take a hit to bring him in now. You may wait for another gameweek.

Although he blanked against Spurs in the current gameweek, the run of fixtures gets easy now. However, be kind enough to have some room for scepticism, as PL is never a walk in the park. For, FPL surprises you more than life itself!
