Radu Dragusin’s stocks keep rising at Tottenham Hotspur as he’s established an important role in Ange Postecoglou’s side because of all the injuries in the defensive line. The Romanian centre-back proved his quality by shining in their recent 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, keeping a clean sheet against the Premier League leaders.
Dragusin has come out strongly after a difficult start at Spurs, with many fans dismissing him as a wasteful signing. The 22-year-old definitely received a lot of help from his loved ones through the rough journey, which includes his beloved partner Ioana Stan. The 22-year-old centre-back shares a very strong bond with Stan, who opted to travel to London with him when he joined Spurs in 2024.
Stan is a Romanian native herself and the daughter of Gabriel Stan, the former deputy mayor of Constanta – a port city in Romania. She actually comes from a pretty rich family in Romanian standards, as Gabriel Stan is also someone who helps build apartments in the country and is a pretty affluent person despite being expelled from his political party after his tenure as Constanta’s deputy mayor.
Ioana is currently pursuing a degree in architecture at the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urban Planning in Bucharest. She is going through a rigorous seven year course that is expected to be completed somewhere around 2028!
Despite living mostly around London, she’s still focusing on completing her educational degree while also supporting Dragusin. She had met Radu when he was coming through the Juventus youth academy scene and the two have apparently been dating 2020.
Dragusin has professed his love for Ioana in public interviews in the past, having revealed a special connection to her after joining Salernitana in 2022: “I came here with confidence and enthusiasm, I can’t wait to make my debut. To achieve our goal, we must be united and win as many matches as possible. I chose the number 25 shirt because it is the day I met my girlfriend. I thank the fans for their support and I am waiting for them at the stadium to be with us.”
While she likes to keep her educational pursuits under wraps, Stan loves to posts snaps with Dragusin on her social media. She has over 27,000 followers on her Instagram, where she likes showing off her love for fashion by posting in different outfits. Stan also has over 30,000 followers on her TikTok, and recently even made a TikTok video detailing how her experience goes when travelling to watch Dragusin in action during the recent win over Liverpool.
Radu really is in head over heels in love with Ioana. Svetlana Simion, his mother, has detailed their beautiful love story and intimate acts for each other, stating: “They didn’t see each other physically for a year. They talked for hours, got to know each other and fell in love before they even held each other in their arms. When they celebrated two years together, Ioana made him a wonderful album in which she captured all their moments… and there’s a phrase in there that made me cry. She says this to Radu: ‘You touched my soul before you touched my skin’… so pure, so beautiful, so romantic.
“But Radu doesn’t let himself be left behind either, on the 25th of every month, Ioana receives flowers. Several of Radu’s colleagues have even told her to take it easy with the flowers, that there are discussions in their couples… yes, it’s a very beautiful relationship and despite the fact that Ioana didn’t do any high-performance sports, she managed to understand and adapt to Radu’s rhythm of life.”
Simion has definitely approved of Ioana as the perfect partner for her son, as she loves how dedicated and strong-willed Radu’s girlfriend is, adding: “Ioana is an architecture student, she studies a lot and whenever she can, she comes to stay with Radu. We try to make our schedule so that we can spend as much time with Radu as possible, his life is not exactly as it seems from the outside… it’s a lot of work, discipline and professionalism.”
“Many people imagine that the life of a footballer is easy, and that his girlfriends have a ‘dolce far niente’ life. Yes, it’s a beautiful and rewarding life, but it’s not for everyone. You need discipline and a lot of passion, but above all you need to have someone by your side who understands you,” she added.
The 22-year-old Spurs centre-back definitely seems to be blessed to have such a supportive and smart partner in Ioana, who is there to support him through thick and thin as he aims to be a success story in English football.
