What happens when you have a phenomenal attacker who also happens to be a creator, next to you? Yes, he takes away the major share of the limelight but amplifies your chances of scoring more goals.
That’s what has happened with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa. Thomas Frank’s side are an absolute joy to watch in the attacking third. And Wissa has earned the rights to be the next major talking point from Brentford, after Mbeumo.
Bryan Mbeumo(£7.8m) might be the ‘numero uno’ from the Bees in PL as well as in FPL, standing third in the overall list with 136pts. But Wissa(£6.2m), despite being a distant second among the Brentford assets, can kick-start a conversation around him in his own right.
He has grabbed 91pts so far in the Fantasy Premier League 2024-25 and is owned by 9.5% of the managers. Wissa is in red-hot form, having scored a goal and an assist against the Saints in GW20; resulting in a 11pts-haul.
The Brentford forward has netted nine goals in this campaign along with registering three assists so far. Wissa, who represents DR Congo at the international stage, has a terrific xG and xGI per 90’ of 0.57 and 0.61 respectively.
Wissa has a brilliant understanding and effortless coordination with young Kevin Schade. And when it comes to Mbeumo, the two gel absolutely organically.
Thomas Frank’s Brentford faces Manchester City, Liverpool, and Spurs in the next four. Considering the sheer quality of the Bees’ attack, Wissa can generate attacking returns even during these tricky fixtures.
However, you may also wait till gameweek 24, as Brentford gets on a dream ride with fixtures on their side — West Ham, Leicester, and Everton, between gameweek 25 and 27. The stage will be set then for Wissa to set ablaze.
But if he is already there in your team, just don’t panic and feel free to keep him as he looks almost fixture-proof from an attacking point of view.
