The Curious Case of Liam Delap: Is he Your Secret Santa in FPL?

FPL, FPL Forwards, Liam Delap

What would you do with an asset that has been largely a case of hits and misses? Ideally, you shouldn’t be getting your hands on it. But FPL is all about taking risks.

There are two ways of approaching life and FPL. Either you play it safe and follow the template or you go for differentials.

Liam Delap is quite moody, at least his FPL persona suggests so. When you expect him to score or assist, he doesn’t. But the moment you write him off, he punishes you.

However, one thing is certain. Delap asks you not to follow the template. He doesn’t follow it either.

His performance in Fantasy Premier League 2024-25 is more than decent. And when you consider his £5.6m price tag, he appears a superb asset while being a great differential.

Liam Delap has bagged 80pts in fantasy and as of now, is owned by only 3.6% of the teams. The Ipswich Town frontman has netted eight goals alongside registering two assists in Fantasy Premier League 2024-25.

Delap blanked for six consecutive gameweeks (excluding the Newcastle match where he didn’t feature), from GW12 to GW18. Enough to test the patience of his owners.

Then, Delap being Delap, defied the rules of the game to churn out 19pts in the last two games with one of the opponents being razor-sharp Chelsea. You never know when Delap is going to surprise you with untimely gifts. Like he scored 12pts against Villa and 11 against Spurs.

Ipswich doesn’t have an easy run of fixtures now but things should be okay from the attacking perspective. Also, a plum fixture awaits in GW24, Southampton at home. Incidentally, GW24 would be the first double gameweek of this FPL season.

Kieran McKenna’s side is very much capable of pulling upsets with Liam Delap at the centre of the proceedings. If you can risk it with Delap, he may reward you with high dividends.
