FPL Preview: What to Expect in Gameweek 22?

FPL, Gameweek 22

FPL is a life lesson. It helps you cope with expectations and the despair brought by unfulfilled expectations. After playing FPL for a couple of seasons, you learn to let go of the Charles Dickens’ classic and ‘Great Expectations’ become a thing of the past gameweek.

We are at the fag end of GW21, with just two matches to go before we wrap these midweek fixtures up. It has been a week of hits and misses again.

Salah blanked, Isak defied injury woes to churn out a razor-sharp performance. Another popular-pick, Cole Palmer bagged 10pts despite Chelsea getting locked in a stalemate with Bournemouth.

The transfer window is wide open and people have already started their planning for the next gameweek. Let’s have a quick tour around our predictions about GW22.

Alexander The Great!

Isak is likely to continue his scoring spree at home against Bournemouth. I won’t be surprised if he manages to break the Premier League record for most consecutive goals.

That was a Blank, This is a Bullet

Salah might have drawn a blank in GW21 but he will still remain a hot-favourite for the armband. Expect him to score or assist. Maybe, both.

Another Iwobi Show?

Iwobi has become the latest talk of the FPL town after his brace against West Ham United in GW21. He may take advantage of a struggling Leicester City.

Can Hammers Break Palace?

West Ham bounced back to winning ways under Potter. But they will have their task cut out against an in-form Crystal Palace, who can be very dangerous during transitions.

Who is the No.9 and is Watkins back?

With Jesus going out of the season, Arteta has to fix his no.9 slot. Would it be Havertz or someone else? We need to check and make our transfer targets accordingly.

Watkins returned in GW21 with a nice strike and 9pts. It needs to be seen whether he can keep consistency. Also, if Durran is handed a start.

Will Moyes’ Magic Work?

The return of Moyes didn’t start well as Everton had to endure another loss. It would be interesting if the veteran tactician manages to pull a win off against Ange’s Spurs.

Amad The Saviour

Amad Diallo has been saving Amorim with his late heroics time and again. Another home match calls for another exhibition of calm head and cool nerves coming together to produce match-winning goals.

Plum in the Forest

Nottingham Forest are looking absolutely razor-sharp and they face a Southampton side which is slowly losing hope. Expect a stat padding at home by Wood and company

Town Vs City

Ipswich is always dangerous at home. They beat Chelsea 2-0, just a month back. McKenna desperately needs a win to ease out some pressure as they are deep into the relegation zone.

I don’t see City getting away with 3pts or a clean sheet.

Bridge Against the Pack of Wolves

GW21 marked the return of Recce James. The OG side-back of Chelsea scored an injury-time equaliser from a free-kick to salvage a point against Bournemouth. I expect him to start the game and Palmer to score. Cunha should be back after serving his two-match suspension. He has to carry Wolves in their fightback from the relegation pool. I think it will be a statement performance from Cunha, as he has a lot  to prove in the current scenario.
