Curtis Jones has been a special weapon in Arne Slot’s Liverpool side. He might have only started in 12 Premier League matches in the 2024/25 season, but has added more urgency and efficiency to their attacking pattern.
Jones has six goal contributions (three goals, three assists) in the Premier League in the campaign. But he’s not even among the Reds’ 10-most used players in the league. He also has one assist in the UEFA Champions League, but has only started four games and acme on as a substitute in the Reds’ 1-0 win over PSG recently.
The 24-year-old has been at Liverpool since the tender age of nine, but being unable to get a starting role might cause him to rethink his options. It is now being reported by Italian outlet Inter Live that Inter Milan are plotting a move to sign Jones in the 2025 summer window.
A rather fascinating ‘revelation’ from this outlet is that some ‘fractures’ have been formed in the relationship between Jones and Slot because of his lack of regular starts. They claim that ‘The Dutch coach just doesn’t want to hear about fielding him as a starter’ and this could lead to Jones being offered to different clubs by his agents.
Inter Live claims that the Nerazzuri could decide to offload midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu and rope in the English midfielder as his replacement.
Earlier in the 2024/25 season, Jones had admitted that he had thought about leaving Liverpool in the past, telling LFCTV: “I know I’ve still got to achieve a lot more and I can still do more. I was at a point where I didn’t know if I was going to have to go on-loan or leave the club and things like that.”
However, Jones also insisted that ‘I know where my future is’ to indicate he’d like to stay Liverpool. It was also reported in November (2024) that the Reds are aiming to give him a new long-term to ward off potential interested parties. Well, they better get going quickly to secure the 24-year-old’s services for the long term and eliminate Inter’s ambitions of signing him.
