Salah’s Barcelona Talks, June 30 Deadline – Liverpool Holds Breath

Liverpool, Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah is enjoying one of his finest seasons at Liverpool, and many are writing him down as one of the greatest players the Premier League has ever seen.

However, despite his legacy at Anfield, this could very well be his final season with the Reds.

With his contract set to expire on June 30, FSG has yet to initiate talks for a contract extension.

This comes as a surprise as Salah currently leads the league in both goals and assists.

In 29 appearances, he has amassed 27 goals and 17 assists, putting him on course to break the Premier League record for most goal contributions in a single season.

Earlier reports suggest that Saudi club Al Hilal sees Salah as the ideal replacement for Neymar and is prepared to offer him an astonishing £45 million per season, which is significantly higher than the  £15 million he makes per season in England.

According to Sport, Salah’s representatives have approached Barcelona about a potential move.

Given the Catalan club’s ongoing financial struggles, the prospect of signing him as a free agent could be exciting for new manager Hansi Flick.

Previously, Sport reported that talks were about to be held between Barcelona and Salah during the January transfer window.

If Salah were to move to La Liga, he would likely have to accept a massive pay cut.

For Liverpool fans, the idea of their Egyptian King leaving is difficult to digest, given the years of service.

Despite turning 33 this year, Salah continues to defy age, showing no sign of slowing down, and is on course to win his second and Liverpool’s 20th league title.
