Manchester United and Everton played out a 3-3 draw in a thrilling Premier League encounter at Old Trafford last night. Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s late equalizer in stoppage time tied the scores with the very final piece of action in the game, as United dropped two points at home in a result that can have major consequences on the Premier League title race.

First-half goals from Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes had put United two goals to the good at half time, but it was Everton who responded with two strikes in quick succession from Abdoulaye Doucouré and James Rodriguez.

It was Scott McTominay who sent United into the lead once again as they looked well on their way to secure all three points, only to be cancelled out by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s late equalizer as he popped up at the back post to head the ball into the net in the very last minute of second-half stoppage time .

The spoils were shared when Jonathan Moss blew his whistle at full time, as Everton kept their unbeaten away streak alive. United were tantalizingly close to getting three important points to help them keep up with Man City but had to settle with only a point.

The point takes the Toffees up to sixth, three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand. Carlo Ancelotti’s men will be up against Spurs in the FA Cup before they face Fulham in their next league outing.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side who would be very frustrated to have thrown the game away so late on, remain in the second position two points behind leaders Manchester City, albeit having played two extra games than their rivals. United will be travelling to West Ham next in their FA Cup fifth-round fixture, following it with a trip to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion in the league.
